The Martagons Bloomed!!

Woot!!
I started them 5 years ago from seed I received from the Willow Garden, and here they are - What beauties!

They were so worth the wait. I still have more to bloom yet, plus the ones that were started a year later than these to, hopefully, have some new colors next year. I sure won't be disappointed if they're the same!
Happy growing!

Not So Artsy

Wow, my first post on this blog and I'm complaining?
Yup!
Where, oh, where are all the traditional quilt patterns?
All this new bright, patterned, limey green and hot pink fabric in some weirdo geometric shapes and strips is just getting to me.
Ugh!
What's with all these art 'quilts'? Most of them aren't even quilts!
Just...disgusted :(
Yeah, yeah - in the eye of the beholder and all that, to each his own, yadda, yadda. But I wonder what our fore-mothers would have thought of such things as sewing (or even gluing!) washers, bolts and sticks to the front of quilts to hang on the wall as 'art'.
Like I said - ugh!!

On a better note, I got my nephew Michael's Drunkard's Path wedding quilt basted. I won't have it finished for the State Fair this year, but I'll have all winter to get it hand quilted and entered for 2012. Hopefully.

Crazy Quilt

Might as well record the blocks I have done so far. Well, not exactly done as they'll get more embroidery and embellishments after the sashing goes on :)
